    While being true that they are the same, it is not the whole story. In the old system we had Maintenance levels which introduced fixes as well as support for new hardware and new operating system features. That is everything was delivered by ML (apart from individual APARS ofcourse).

    Now this has changed and IBM has introduced Technology Level and Service Packs. The Technology levels introduce new functionality, support for hardware etc as well as bug fixes and then we have the Service Packs which only include fixes for the current TL and no new features.

    This has caused the level of the machine to be reverted from the form 5300-02 to 5300-06-03, indicating TL6 and service pack 3.
