Debugging HMCs network connectivity problem to IBM Website?

  • 1.  Debugging HMCs network connectivity problem to IBM Website?

    Posted Fri July 25, 2025 10:37 AM

    Hi!

We operate in total 25 HMCs (CR1, CR2 and vHMC on ESX) in several of our subsidiaries. Recently we noticed that nowadays they can download update files direclty from the IBM Website and we gave it a try.  It worked for 23 of our HMCs without any problem, but two seems to have trouble connecting to the IBM website.

When I try to upgrade them via the webinterface I just get the following shown:

I would have expected to see MF71728 and the update for V10R3.1062 here, as it was the case for our other HMCs.

I get a slightly more verbose errors when trying the power_hmc.hmc_update_upgrade ansible module:

As far as I know the proxy settings in the call home outbound are used also here, and comparing them between the systems I see no difference.  Also call home is working for all of them.

Any hints how I can continue debugging the problem?

    Best regards,

      Alexander

    Hi Alexander,

Can we check the connectivity test from GUI, below is the navigation path in GUI for test connectioin

Call home management --> outbound connectivity --> Test connection

if connection test is passed, then can you open a ticket with pedbg logs collected to analyze further

    Thanks and Regards,
    Karthik

    Hi Alexander,

no idea why it happened but you can try to debug it with mitmproxy https://mitmproxy.org
