    basically there is no difference in the two terms. They both apply to the same concept: Install extra hardware (Cores, Memory) and pay for it as you use it. The Marketing name has evolved from Power4 to 5 to Power6. The current term is "Capacity on Demand" or COD and all of the offerings are described at http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/p/advantages/cod/index.html

    I believe CUoD was the term used with Power5, but again, the concept is the same.
