  • 1.  COBOL ON CLOUD

    Posted Mon July 31, 2023 10:12 AM

    Hello,

Does anyone have an idea how to create cobol programs on Cloud?

Could you please share some documents, etc?

    Thanks!

    Hello Johnny,

     I would recommend three alternatives:

    1. register at IBM's zExplore for learning about the Mainframe and Enterprise Cobol

    2. download GnuCobol  - it has many language elements similar to Mainframe COBOL - together with an IDE like Microsoft VS Code or OpenCobolIDE.  You can install these tools either locally on your Windows, Linux or Mac OS PC or within an environment like GitPod, if a cloud based development environment is important for you

      GnuCOBOL download | SourceForge.net

      OpenCobolIDE · PyPI

    3. There is a tiny server based COBOL for trying the programming language on your iPad or iPhone whenever and wherever you like to.

Cobol Programming Language on the App Store (apple.com)

    Hope that helps!

    Greetings

    Ralf

Sorry, I'm sure that the question was "how to create cobol programs on Cloud?" and not "how to learn COBOL".

    Yeah...

Like, I need to fill this "big gap" of mine. Like I want to create a simple application... Server is running on the Cloud--batch processing is thru cobol/jcl things like that.
