    If you have a NIM server it is very easy to clone the new system from your old one or even build it fresh. You can get those instructions throu the documentation "NIM from A to Z Guide". Just google for it.

    If you don't have a NIM server you should be able to clone the new system with a mksysb from the old one. then update the OS if need be. As long as there are no devices configured on the new system it will not restore the devices from the old system. Just google for " clone AIX mksysb" and you will get several links that have good instructions.

    Read through the documentation first. Remember, even though if you mess up you have a new system so it's easy to just wipe it and start over.
