    I'm not able to print on tray 1. I checked the configuration and I get
    these 3 options:

    $lsvirprt -q print1 -d hp@xprint -a _O

    Name Description Value
    _O Type of INPUT PAPER HANDLING (backward 1
    compatibility purpose only)

    $ lsvirprt -q print1 -d hp@xprint -a _u

    Name Description Value
    _u Input PAPER SOURCE 6

    $ lsvirprt -q print1 -d hp@xprint -a _Q

    Name Description Value
    _Q PAPER SIZE override for input paper source %IwQ

    But it prints on tray2, my goal is to be able to print on tray 1 and
    I
    have to put the papers manually.

    Have you any suggestions?

    Thanks a lot.

    I would highly recommend going to 'smitty printers' and change the tray parameter there. If you aren't familiar enough with the chvirprt command you can really screw up your printer settings. There are only a few parameters I change with that command and for most I just use smit. It is so much safer.

    Good luck.

    I checked from smitty printers and the option "INPUT PAPER SOURCE" has this value "multipurpose tray 1", but when I try a test, its prints on tray 2.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

    I take the default on mine and the default in my smit screen shows "tray 2".

    I didn't ask you before but what type of printer and driver are you trying to config? It does make a difference because different printers have different features. I'm using HP jetdirect for HP4000 printers. All my printers are laser jets.

    I'm not sure why your still printing from tray 2 if you have it set for tray 1 in AIX unless you have a setting on the printer that's overriding AIX. You should check the printer itself. I have other people that handle the printer so I don't know how to get thru the menus. I just configure them in AIX. Sorry.

    Good luck.
