Hi,
I have two System p5 510 machines configured and running AIX 5.3.
One of the two machines just has the base install and is minimally configured (i.e. after the initial run of the Configuration Assistant).
The second machine has all the latest SP updates applied to it:
-
oslevel -r
5300-05
-
oslevel -s
5300-05-03
The problem I have is that when this second machine is rebooted or powered on, I never see the "IBM eServer Boot Menu" nor do I see the IBM logo nor do I see the messages on the console saying that "Memory... Keyboard..." are being tested.
The console screen blanks a few times and then I see the AIX 5L splash screen followed by a small window in the upper right hand corner with boot/start up messages, and then I get the CDE login window.
What has happened to this machine that causes none of the usual boot progress output messages to be displayed to the master console?
The first machine (the one which does not have any updates applied to it) displays all of these messages before showing the CDE login window.
I am an AIX newbie and all tips/advice are appreciated!
Thanks!
Regards,
