  • 1.  CA 11.1.7 - Options on Emailing Report run in background

    Posted Wed December 08, 2021 12:01 PM
On CA 11.1.7 FP3. I would like to know if there are options to change the following:

    1. On selecting "Send Report by Email", the default is "No Recipients" - Is it possible to automatically set the default to be the user attempting to run the report. Otherwise, it requires an additional step of accessing the "Details" which now automatically defaults the user.

    2. Can you set the default email option to be "Attach File" rather than "Include a Link

Any help oh this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam.

    Hi Adam,

that's a good question. I have no idea but have the same requirements in my environments... Maybe one of the IBM experts can chime in?

    Hi Adam,

This (#1) is fixed as you describe in fix pack 4 - it was logged as a defect.

    Thank you Kizzy...

We are going to see if we can go to FP4 at this time.

    Thanks again,
    Adam.

What about #2 ? Is there a setting to default to send attachment instead of sending link ?

    Hi,

About question #2, you can select a role from Account, for instance Authors, then Customization / Features.
In the search window, search for "link" (without quotes) and clear "Include link" (for email only) as shown below:

Loggout, then log (with any user belonging to Authors) , try to send an report by email, you should have:
Attach report output is the default.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

sorry for pulling up that old topic.

We recently upgraded to 12.0.4. Does anybody know if the change @Patrick Neveu described works under Cognos 12 as well?

It does change the behavior when using the share button. But it doesn't change the default for the report "Run as" Menu. The default always stays on "Include a Link" rather than "Attach report output"

we've upgraded to 12.0.4 IF3 and are seeing the same. i've raised a support ticket with IBM. the customize option is interesting if it works. i wonder if you'd have to apply to every group the user is a member otherwise one of them may grant access and trump the others? will post here how i get on

    Hi everyone,

Customizing roles (Features customization) that Patrick described above is not intended to change defaults.  Rather it is for hiding certain elements from the UI (for users who belong to the customized role).  Here is a documentation link:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/12.0.x?topic=roles-examples-hiding-menu-options-feature

Off the top I don't know how to change the default of the Email options for running a report in the backround but I will investigate further.

    Thanks
