It could be a defect, as the switch from Selector to Exploration is available but no way to switch it back to make it a selector again, let us investigate the details and thank you for bringing that up.
If the views are an MDX views, so their selectors are part of that MDX and not the generic dimensions.
It allows the customization you need in your book.

I don't know whether it is a feature or a bug, 
for some reason i can convert dimension selector into exploration, which is usually not possible in the earlier version.

and for some reason it points to some cube (i assume this is the cube where the selector is created)

and the problem is, the user that does not have access to the cube/element listed on the screenshot above cannot see the selector! (it just says Internal Server Error 500)
How is this happen? Dimension Selector should be global and not tied to some cube.
The PAW version is 2.1.3
