Hi Blaz,
It appears the version of BIRT you're using came from Eclipse and not the pre-canned BIRT Designer from IBM. Using the BIRT Designer package from IBM will setup the database connections in the designer to mimic connections that would be used in Maximo itself. When using the pre-canned BIRT Designer, you shouldn't have to choose the Data Source Type. BIRT Designer should have a Maximo workspace setup and automatically select the folder and data source.
This is what you would get after clicking File > New > Report in IBM Maximo BIRT Designer package:
Report Designers are immediately asked what folder the new report should be saved. Now clicking 'Next' will allow the user to select pre-canned report templates.
Using the IBM BIRT package is dependent on the idea the BIRT Designer is setup for just Maximo. If you have to create BIRT reports for other applications, then I'm not sure how to flip from the Maximo datasource and select other workspaces to open up report designs to other data source types.

Subject: BIRT Report Type of Data Source
Hello,
I have question what type of data source are you using in BIRT Report. We have version of Maximo 7.6.0.10.
Is possible to use JDBC Data Source and not Scripted Data Source? What is yours experience abou that?
