AWSEMI315E zPDTA License Unavailable for CPU 0

    Posted Thu August 14, 2014 11:12 AM
Hello, we have problem to get runzpdt/awsstart to work.. seems licensing problems from what we can tell.

    We have the following scenario:

1 Linux desktop with a USB dongle with 3 licenses.
1 Linux Laptop that connects to the above mentioned Desktop to try to get its license, but will not work.

The error we get when running runzpdt is:

    ibmsys1@linux-eg5c:~/z> ./runzpdt

The UUID for this machine does not exist in the remote servers data base.
Local UUID for this machine is X-Y-Z-Å-Ä

There are no firewalls between the 2 machines, and we have seen with netstat on the servermachine (desktop) that whenever we run ./runzpdt on the client machine (Laptop) that it connects on port 9450.. so it does something atleast.

In another post here, it was suggested to try with a clean Devicemap file, so tested a also a Devicemap with only basic values, but we got the same error

We wonder if any of you have come across similar scenario, and would be grateful for any thoughts on what to try next, (if RTFM, then if it could be pointed out what FM and where in it please)?

    Hello RDzJohn,

I share almost the same szenario as described above.

We uninstalled 9.0, upgraded to 9.1, I downloaded and installed the update.zip for the usbtoken attached on our licenseserver.

    Can you help?

  • 5.  Re: AWSEMI315E zPDTA License Unavailable for CPU 0

    Posted Thu May 21, 2015 09:26 AM

Okay, here are some initial things to ensure.

    1) I assume you uninstalled 9.0 and installed 9.1 on your license server. Then you got the new .zip file and executed a Z1091_token_update -u command  with the .zip file on that license server.  Make sure you followed all the steps in the RD&T activation guide, "Steps to activate a USB hardware device for version 9.1 or later."

    2) In particular in those steps described above, did you unplug and replug the USB Hardware device after the token update command? And after that, did you restart the sentinel key server on the license server instance after doing the token update - /opt/safenet_sentinel/common_files/sentinel_keys_server/loadserv restart    ?

    3) Did you restart the license server itself with uimserverstart ?

    4) If you have done all of those things, then issue a clientconfig from the client machine, and make sure the top two lines are the ip address of the license server and port 9450.

    5) If clientconfig looks good, issue uimcheck from the client machine. Make sure you see "The remote query command executed successfully." If you don't see this, you probably have a connectivity issue to the server.

    6) Finally, if remote query is not successful, verify the iptables on the Linux image running the license server using an iptables -L -n command. This will let you know if you have a firewall running on the server, and if it is allowing connectivity to ports 9450 and 9451. If the firewall is running, you may need to do the following commands to make sure it is allowing connectivity to ports 9450 and 9451, those that the clients connect to. This is described in Chapter 8 of the zPDT Guide and Reference Redbook.

    # iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 9450 -j ACCEPT
    # iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 9451 -j ACCEPT

Let us know if these things solve your issue.

    Hello Bebe,

thanks a lot for your ideas!

All your suggestions have been successfully done already before,  the iptables also look fine (these commands had been unknown to me).

But I think this problem is fixed now, I had to set the rights for the uim.db  and

after that I could continue with my first devmap.

Now I can look forward what will happen next ....

Maybe I will call for help again - but today it's enough!

    Thanks a lot!!!

Mani, for future forum user's benefit, when you say "rights for the uim.db", I assume you mean the allowed and blocked site address lists in the sntlconfigsrvr.xml configuration file for the sentinel keys server? Or do you mean you had to change the permissions to the uimserver.db file itself?

    Hi Bebe,

I ment the permission to the file itself, but now I must realize that the problem is still open.

I assumed a problem in the permissions because the uimcheck works under root, under ibmsys1 or another user not.

Mani, is it possible you executed the aws_bashrc command from root rather than from the user that will be running RD&T? I have seen this done accidentally and can cause some issues. Also, please look in usr/z1090/uim for the file uimclient.db and let me know what the permissions are - both owner and its access, and group and its access.

I will be contacting someone today with your symptoms, and if he can't see something simple, then we may need to pursue a PMR and get some logs.

Mani, I am beginning to think this whole thing started because of executing aws_bashrc as root. Here is what I suggest. All instructions below assume you want ibmsys1 to be the user executing RD&T.

    1) Delete usr/z1090/uim/uimclient.db. Just delete the one file uimclient.db, not the folders in the path. You will probably have to do this from root or superuser, as (I think because the .bashrc updates were made as root), it is incorrectly owned by root.

    2) Run aws_bashrc as ibmsys1. Do so by changing directory to /home/ibmsys1, and entering /usr/z1090/bin/aws_bashrc

    3) Close the terminal where you executed the aws_bashrc command, and open another terminal for ibmsys1. This is to activate the bashrc changes

    4) from root, restart the local product license server: /opt/safenet_sentinel/common_files/sentinel_keys_server/loadserv restart

    5) from the user that will start RD&T (again, I assume ibmsys1), execute z1090instcheck. Hopefully this one will work.

    6) If that works, go ahead and do your awsstart

If this set of instructions doesn't work, we need to open a PMR, and we will start digging into the logs. But I believe the instructions above have a decent chance to work.

    Hi Bebe,

thank you for your response but

unfortunately there has been no positive effect, no change of the situation.

Should I better try a re-installation than digging in the logs?

Mani, if you don't mind, a reinstall may be a good idea. If you installed RD&T v9.1 with Installation manager, make sure and uninstall with Installation Manager. Otherwise, I suggest a z1091_removeall from /usr/z1090/bin directory.

After uninstalling, and before reinstalling, delete the usr/z1090 folder and all its contents. You will have to be superuser/root to do this. The reinstallation will repopulate the z1090 folder and all subfolders as appropriate.

When you reinstall, assuming you have a GUI interface on your Linux, I always suggest using launchpad.sh on the RD&T installation disc. It launches Installation Manager for you. If you do not have a GUI interface, you can use lauchpad-console.sh

If the re-installation does not solve the problem, we need to open a PMR. In the interim, I have sent some information from your logs to the person in our area most knowledgeable of UIM, so we are not losing time on this. Hopefully he will have some ideas. Keep us posted on how the reinstallation goes.

Mani, we really, really want to help you get through this as quickly as possible. A PMR will allow us to communicate much more efficiently (like using the phone), rather than us exchanging appends once or twice a day. Here is a link to open a PMR - hopefully you have done this before.

    https://www-947.ibm.com/support/servicerequest/

Please add in the PMR to attention to Kelly Mcgraw or Mike Hockings. We will make ourselves available at a time convenient to you. In the interim, one of us will be looking at the Installation Manager issue and see if we have a recommendation there.
