  • 1.  AUTOIPL on a RD&T system?

    Posted Fri February 22, 2013 03:31 AM
We got a new RD&T system last week (8.5). Supposedly the PC hardware simulates a z196. When I attempted to set AUTOIPL on z/OS, I got this message:

    IGV010I IN PARMLIB MEMBER=DIAGXX ON LINE 5: 359
AUTOIPL WAS NOT PROCESSED, DUE TO AN ENVIRONMENT ERROR

    Line 5 is this: AUTOIPL SADMP(NONE) MVS(0A80,0A82XX )

Explanation for the message is this:

Explanation: DIAGxx processing determined that AutoIPL actions cannot be performed on this system because required hardware support is not present.
System Programmer Response: Ensure that the required hardware support is present. If it is, search problem reporting databases for a fix for the problem; if no fix exists, contact the IBM Support Center. The required hardware support is present on all z10(TM) machines. On z9® machines, it is provided by Feature Code 9904 and hardware driver 67 or later (both are required).

    Both a z9 and a z10 are 'less' hardware than a z196.

Is AUTOIPL not supported on RD&T?
What do I have to do to get it supported?

    Thanks and regards, Barbara

    Hi Ingo,

The AUTOIPL feature is not supported by Rational Development & Test Environment (or the underlying zPDT).

    Hi Doug,

Thanks for this clear statement! That's clarifies the situation.

Is there a possibility or chance to raise an enhancement request for that?

    Thanks&Cheers,
    Ingo
