I have LTO2 tape drive connected to a B80 running AIX 4.3 (very old but cannot upgrade due to our apps). It work perfectly with Atape Drive for the last couple of years. Suddenly after rebooting this server,  the drive is seen as  'Other SCSI Tape Drive' instead of 'LTO Ultrium Tape Drive' .

I tried to re-boot , re-install Atape Drive and reconfigure using cfgmgr command but no hope. Any idea how to fix it? Below is the info of this server currently:

    # lslpp -l Atape.driver

Atape.driver               8.4.9.0  COMMITTED  IBM AIX Enhanced Tape and Medium Changer Device Driver

    #lsdev -Cc tape

rmt0 Available 10-89-00-0,0 Other SCSI Tape Drive

The interesting here is while AIX 4.3 reconize LTO3 tape drive as "Other SCSI Tape drive", it still is able to write into the LTO3 tapes. But I cannot use this to read my backup tapes because they has been written using Atape drive, not "Other SCSI Tape drive".

After changing back to original LTO tape, everything are OK now.
