  • 1.  Are there actually no groups for the languages on z?

Although I haven't been here long, I do miss groups for languages like COBOL, PL/I and others on the z mainframe.

Is there a reason for this or should we start something like this? What do you think?

Hi @Uwe Graf, Welcome to the IBM TechXchange Community! Currently the group that is most focused on Z languages such as COBOL, PL/I, and others on the Z mainframe is the IBM Z and LinuxONE – Languages group. If you are interested in the programming languages supported on IBM Power we also have a Programming Languages on Power group and there are a number of user groups in the IBM TechXchange Community. Please let us know if you have any additional questions and I hope you have a great week ahead.

    Hello Kat,
Thank you very much for your message.
I've had a look at the groups and like them very much, but I'm thinking more of a group for a concrete technical exchange of ideas on how I can use the languages (e.g. COBOL, PL/I) even better. It should also be possible to ask questions about specific problems, which also affects many of my customers, who would then definitely join the community.
You are also welcome to reply via my e-mail address, as I can then respond directly. Have a nice weekend too!

    Hello Uwe,

I would agree with your suggestion of either including COBOL or PL1 here or starting a designated group.  I volunteer to help, if needed.

    Thank you,
    Tom
