API Connect 2018 Catalog property - blank or null value

  • 1.  API Connect 2018 Catalog property - blank or null value

Is it possible to set a catalog property in API Connect and set it to a null or blank value.  I tried creating a property and leaving the value blank but that isn't allowed.  I'm trying to set a property that I can use that will ultimately append a value on our target url but just for one region, the other regions we wouldn't need that value... so I'd like it be set to blank there, and would have a specific value in this 1 specific region.

    Hi Jeff,
I assume you're asking about the Manage -> <catalog> -> Catalog settings -> Catalog properties and not a catalog specific value for an API property, correct? I tried this myself but it only allowed me to specify a space.  When I then referenced this in a set-variable policy, these catalog values are updated upon publish by the manager, and the variable is replaced with the catalog property's value which is a space, not an empty string. My suggestion would be open a PMR. I'm not sure if you'd get an answer that this isn't supported and you'd need to open a request for enhancement, or if it would be considered a bug, maybe in the UI.  It's not my area of the code.  I had a similar issue years ago in the map policy where the default value for a individual map action needed to be an empty string and the UI had to add a check box "Empty string as default value" to distinguish between empty string and not specified, so perhaps that is what would be needed here as well.
    Best Regards,

    Steve
