Many users forget that AIX can mirror logical volumes over IP between different storage subsystems using GLVM - either synchronously or asynchronously since AIX 6.1. As organisations move some of their workloads into the cloud, GLVM has found new popularity as the only way to replicate AIX logical volumes if the application itself doesn't support IP replication.
