in our AIX we use "Europe/Berlin" in our TZ-variable. But what exactly does that mean? Especially the settings for DST would be usefull.

    Thanks for help,

the TZ=Europe/Berlin does not exist in AIX.

    We use this:
    chtz MEZ-1MST-2,M3.5.0/02:00:00,M10.5.0/03:00:00
to set the Timezone for Germany, with automatic Timemeasurement in March and October.

Right, when I use smitty to set the timezone "using system defined values" it writes "Europe/Berlin" into my tz-variable. And I know, that "MEZ-1MST-2,M3.5.0/02:00:00,M10.5.0/03:00:00" would be a good manual setting for the timezone here in germany.

All I wanted to know was, if I can read somewhere whats "Europe/Berlin" about in this "manual" type like this: MEZ-1MST-2,M3.5.0/02:00:00,M10.5.0/03:00:00

Especialy the fact if the system would set/unset dst at 2am in march and 3am in october.

Oh, I see, you asked, so you obviously care but then you have just admitted you have answered your own questions so everybody should be happy now.
