Please advice how to get AIX 5.3 installed on this system. the AIX 5.3 CDs are working perfectly but these are old CDs (2, 3 years old) I got to know from a friend that this could be due to using old disks. is this the reason or what seems to be the issue, that i cannot install the AIX 5.3 OS?

I have two disks and formated one disk using AIX 6.1 and tried installing AIX 5.3 on that but the issue is same. i use Hyper terminal to connect to this server (19200 8N1. the code which is displayed is "0c48" at the failing point.

Please advice.

The 6.1 > 5.3 thing is probably a pad string problem - search google.

The c48 = Prompting you for input.
Seems your console connection is not working, try another / a supported, console cable / connection.

Thanks a lot for all of your replies. finally i managed to install AIX 5.3 on the server model 9115-505, with the latest AIX 5.3 images(4/2008--Tl 5300-08) . the CDs which i tried earlier was old (5300-00-00), seems the old CDs doesn't detect the HD.
