  • 1.  9.5 to 9.8 Migration Issue

    Below are the steps followed to apply fixes on webMethods 9.8. But update manager is not working on AIX.

    1. Installed updatemanager for 9.8 version on windows 2008 and started updatemanger to create fixes from image for first time. Its shows updatemanager version as below.
      Software AG Update Manager Version:9.8.0.0000-2158.

    2. After connecting to empower, updatemanager got automatically updated to below version.
      Software AG Update Manager Version:9.8.0.0034-3274.

    3. After that have selected the required fixes to create image file to install fix on AIX 7.1 OS for webMethods 9.8 version.

    4. Logged into AIX 7.1 OS,and started updateManager it shows the below version.

      Starting bundle:com.softwareag.fixinstall.cmdlineinstaller_9.8.0.0000-2158

    5. After that i gave installation directory and fix path which downloaded on windows 2008. It displays below statements after that it is coming out of updatemanager.

    6. After that next time ran ./UpdateManagerCMD.sh displays below statements and coming out of updateManager.Means updateManager is not working.

    On AIX OS updatemanager is not able to update from Version:9.8.0.0000-2158 to Version:9.8.0.0034-3274 from downloaded fix on windows. I am not able to apply fixes for webMethods 9.8.Can you help me in fixing this issue?

    Maybe fixes are specific to OS (not sure though). I would suggest you to run the SUM on AIX, create fix image and then install. If still issue repeats you may re-try and then consult SAG for further actions.

    Hi Jacob,

    which option did you choose when creating the fix image?
    “Installed Products” or “Licensed Products”?

    When using “Installed Products” SUM only looks Fixes for your current Installation (Windows in this case).
    When using “Licensed Products” SUM will show all available latest Fixes for the products you have licensed.
    When they are OS-dependent, you can choose the right version for your target OS (choose Windows and AIX here).
    Then this image will work for both OSes.

    Can you share a list of Fixes contained in the image?

    Try to create a new fix image as described above.

    Please have a look at the UpdateManager logs to get a clue what might have gone wrong.

    I have selected Licensed products option. I don’t see option to select for OS for IS_9.8_Core_Fix7.

    Hi Jacob,

    than this one is a cross platform fix which can be applied to all platforms.

    OS-dependend Fixes have the Platform Type in their name (added at the end enclosed in parentheses).
