I am able to switch to the perm side and boot to use the server again, but I need to get the microcode updated. What is strange is this is the second 9113-500 server I am having an update problem with having the same (SF222_074) version of microcode installed. I have searched for information on this version of microcode and cannot find anything on it (not even listed as a valid version in any IBM microcode documentation). The version listed is SF222_075.

Is it possible the version installed is defective in some way and that is what is causing the update to fail? Whether true or not, does anyone have any info on how to get this version updated? I have updated microcode on many servers in the past with no issues, but this one has me stuck.

I've found that when your microcode level is this low, it often requires you to do incremental updates. Try going to SF230_158 first. Then once you've done that, you should be able to update to SF240_*.
