I have an IBM P510 server, Model # 9110-510. I've recently installed a video board, but I still have no video display. I also have no keyboard or mouse input either. I can log into the service processor and power cycle, etc, but I need to get into the SMS menu so that I can install the OS via a NIM server. Any ideas on what I can try? I'm pretty "green" when it comes to working with IBM servers, so I'm at a loss on what to try at this point. Is there something I can change in the service processor, similar to the "output-device=screen" on a Sun box?

    Thanks,

Any chance you can add a keyboard or are you dealing with this server remotely?

    You have logged out.

At this point, I'm logged out, and can't log back in until the system finishes doing whatever it's doing. It usually takes 2 to 3 minutes to be able to log back in. Once I get logged back in, the system's "Current system power state" is "On", but I still don't have any display.

If you want a flash file that shows these steps send me an email (bassemir@us.ibm.com). The flash demo is from a class we used to give and you might find it helpful if you want to see how we did the above steps.

The biggest difference I saw with what you sent was that you guys used Hyperterm, and I was using Putty. The Xon/Xoff was also different.

After making the change to Hyperterm, I was able to power on, and see the the codes scrolling. I had an error code, which was cleared up by removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes, replacing it, then powering the system on.

After all that, I was able to get into the SMS menu.

Thanks a million for all your help! You deserve a raise!
