Hi all!
Hoping we might be able to figure out what's going on here. I've got a 9114-275 with 2GB of memory and a 36GB hard disk. I've ensured that both the system and the hard disk have the latest firmware installed. I then performed a fresh install of AIX 7.1 from a disc with 7100-00-01 on it. (ie, not a preservation install). Install worked fine. Once in the OS, I used SUMA to download 7100-01-01-1141, which is the latest available, then applied it using the update installed software to latest level option. Once that completed, "oslevel -s" reported 7100-01-01-1141, so I rebooted using "shutdown -Fr". Upon reboot, I get 554 "UNKNOWN BOOTDISK" after the kernel starts and I get the AIX bootloader banner on the screen.
So, next I booted it into service mode off the CD, and used the "access a rootvg" option. Once it tries to spawn a shell, I get messages like the following rapidly scrolling down the screen:
/etc/getrootfs
591: 1245230 Killed
Once we hit that, I can never get control of the system short of power-cycling it. This is killing me. I've tried this like 5 times using all sorts of combinations of preservation installs and clean installs. No matter what, it just plain won't boot 7100-01-01-1141. Is there something I'm missing, like that hardware support for the 9114-275 was dropped in this release, or am I hitting a bug?
Many, many thanks in advance!!
