    Hello.

I'm a Client Engineering Cloud Engineer Intern, and I wanted to learn more about the differences between SPSS used on-premises and SPSS used in Cloud Oak for Data (CP4D). Could someone help me or point me to any good resources?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Joshua,

SPSS is the name of the company acquired by IBM in 1997. Among several smaller products the biggest offerings from SPSS were Statistics (the original 'SPSS') and Modeler. Modeler is the product that exists in both Cloud and Desktop versions. This forum is for SPSS Statistics.

    Dear Joshua,

Thank you for making a contribution to your question.

Well learning IBM SPSS v 28.0 ( current version) on premise should not
be too difficult once you have a laptop with Windows running or any
other operating system. In Windows, you can download the current version
of SPSS software at the Url: www.SPSS.com. Once downloaded for about
four (4) weeks, you can learn about SPSS through the help facility or
related resources. SPSS has features like MS Excel, thus the columns,
rows and the various menus which help you to navigate around the
software. The columns represents where you provide your variables in
your questionnaire to be analyzed. The rows represent the cases, records
or the different copies of the questionnaires which you collect data
from the interviewees. After you have captured your data, you can use
Analyze option on the main menu to analyze your data.

The second part of your question requires knowledge in Cloud Computing.
Cloud computing basically is working on the Internet, specifically IBM
Cloud which you need to have access. So your computer and software will
be on the Internet where you work from. So IBM SPSS should give you
access. Well the main disadvantage with the Cloud is, if you don't have
Internet you cannot work. With SPSS on Premise, whether you have
Internet or not, once acquired you can work without Internet. Also on the
Internet, it is public and you always have a risk of data
confidentiality. You can learn about Cloud Computing from Google on the
    Internet. Thank you.
