How to cross match for cases across 2 SPSS files?

  • 1.  How to cross match for cases across 2 SPSS files?

    File-1 has 1000 cases each with their own ID# (as a variable). File-2 has 100,000 cases with ID#s. I want to delete any case from file-2 that does not have an ID# matching an ID# from file-1. How do I go about this? THANKS!!

    Do MATCH FILES using the 100,00 case file as the main file and the small file as a TABLE.  Then in the main file you can just select the cases where some variable in the table that was added to the main file is missing.
