I've already reported (maybe not here) of a bad feature or bug found in version 28 - 28.0.1.1. I want to remind about it in order SPSS team to do something about it.
When MATRIX acts upon TEMPORARY and saves something to a new unnamed dataset (which becomes active), the temporary variable persists in the initial dataset, as a phantom. Manual attempt to remove it invokes - in the latest SPSS version - the collapse of SPSS processor.
temporary.
compute y= x.
matrix.
get y /variable= y.
save y /outfile= *.
end matrix.
Variable Y should not be present in the "old" dataset, yet it is there, with no true values.
Menu item/Button "Run Pending Transorms" - which could be a remedy to remove the column - is pale.
Manual removing of the column produces error "An unknown error has terminated communication with the processor. The SPSS Statistics Processor is unavailable."
So here we are.
