    Hi, Russell. I passed this around to my colleagues and although it did provide some information, it didn't help find the cause of your problem. One of them has recommended that you try the steps below. I am attaching the file he referenced (inside the ZIP).

    Instructions for using the attached spsstrace.properties file:
    1. UnZIP and save the spsstrace.properties file to your local machine (note the folder which it is in)
    2. Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app), then change directories to the location of the spsstrace.properties file:
    $ cd ~/Downloads                        (Assuming it was saved the file to your Downloads folder)
    3. Copy the file to the Statistics bin folder, one must use the sudo command:
    $ sudo cp spsstrace.properties "/Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/bin"
    4. Change directories into the SPSS Statistics application bundle and start the application:
    $ cd "/Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/MacOS"
    $ ./stats  (note the period in front of the forward slash is needed)
    SPSS Statistics will start, with trace information being displayed in the Terminal window. Please copy all information produced by running the application and send it to us. Thank you.

    It looks like this is not an SPSS problem per se. See this. One user apparently found that rebooting the machine fixed the issue. Could you please try that?

    I cannot launch SPSS28 on MacOS Monterey 12.5.
    In the Activation folder, I managed to open licenseWizard and can add my  license successfully. But when I tried to open the SPSS statistics.app, a java window pops up.

    I even followed its instruction to change the LoginShell to :/bin/zsh,
