    Hi Community members,

I work as Quality engineering manager, we are analyzing the product capabilities of various Test data management tools in the market, after going through the videos regarding Optim, i have the below queries, can someone help with the details:

    1) Does Optim have the ability to extract, insert or overwrite test data in a specific table from Data Alias? I read it can load/delete the tables, was interested to know if it can load/delete data into tables which are already available?
    2) Maintaining data in individual data base after the creating the copy. Once data is copied to multiple DBs, can we edit the data in one specific data table?
    3) Can the tool filter data based on the criteria (i have read that this is feasible, pls confirm)
    4) Comparison of DBs before and after the data fabrication.
    5) Load the data from spcific data files into the DBs.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

) Does Optim have the ability to extract, insert or overwrite test data in a specific table from Data Alias? I read it can load/delete the tables, was interested to know if it can load/delete data into tables which are already available?  Optim does have the capability to update rows rather than delete and re-insert.  It depends on the required use case on which method is employed.  Optim also has the ability to delete all rows from existing tables to insert fresh data into.
    2) Maintaining data in individual data base after the creating the copy. Once data is copied to multiple DBs, can we edit the data in one specific data table? Since the data has been inserted/loaded into specific database tables, the data is under full control of the database meaning all DML activities are possible.  Updates, selects, etc.
    3) Can the tool filter data based on the criteria (i have read that this is feasible, pls confirm) Optim allows for anything from simple selection filtering to highly complex depending on the need.
    4) Comparison of DBs before and after the data fabrication.  Optim offers a Compare utility which allows the team to view before and after images of the data to validate its contents and processes.  This can be done at the table or file level as Optim stores intermediate data in binary files.
    5) Load the data from spcific data files into the DBs. If I understand this correctly, the answer is yes.  Any Optim file can be used to populate data in a target database.
