    It's that time again to gather ideas for the Panel Discussion segment of our quarterly OVUG meeting coming up on September 28.

    Please post ideas or questions as replies in this thread that you would like the Optim User Panel to discuss during the meeting. This is your opportunity to have your questions addressed by multiple panel members whom have years of experience with the software.

    Topics can be best practices, installing or upgrading Optim, how-to, etc., so let's get this conversation going!

    What would be the alternative to ODBC / JDBC interface to data stored in Optim archive files after end of support for Open Data Manager.

    Question sent directly to me from an Optim user. 

    "We use Optim TDM on both distributed & z/OS and are looking to have some level of self-service to install and use the product for project needs. Optim has various layers and complexity to its configuration (and usage), so are there any installation tool kits or alternate solutions IBM or other Optim customers are using to simplify this process and help increasing tool adoption and usage?" 

    I did paraphrase it a bit for clarity's sake, but the main gist is getting some input from the panel on the feasibility and reality of Optim as a self-service toolset.

    Could we hae more info on the discontinuance of Optim Solution for Application Retirement, JDBC/ODBC connectors as highlighted in the above link.

    As it'll affect our existing and future projects on Data Archival and reporting.
