  • 1.  DB Alias Log On Information

    Posted Tue February 22, 2022 09:26 AM
    Hi ,

I have Optim TDM  on my server an a client on my local.
I create db aliases on server side , but now i need to create access definition on my local but optim asks about login info such as username and password.

Is there anyway to share it from server to client app  ?

    Best regards ,

    Hi,

The way I understand your question, you may have to enter DBAlias login details on Personal Options under Logon tab. You may also check Optim Server Setting, Security Tab.

It may depend on the DBMS and the method you're using to authenticate on the connection string. For example, when I connect to SQL Server using ODBC DSN, I select integrated Windows authentication in the DSN definition. This then uses the current credentials from the machine you're logged onto (client or server). When I define the Optim DB Alias using that DSN, I don't provide any credentials and am not asked to supply any. Understood not all DBMS allow this, but if yours does then I'd use it as opposed to hardcoded User ID and Password embedded in the Alias or the Optim Registry settings.

    Hope this helps!
