REORG large TS to convert to RPN, DASD requirements

    Hi all.

We want to convert one of largest tablespaces to RPN. And as we know this requires a REORG off the whole tablespace.
Now we are calculating the  DASD requirements.
The tablespace in question has 2500 partitions and takes, inclusive its indexes, about 29 Tb on disk.(22 Tb for data, 7 Tb for indexes).
    My calculation so far is:
    1) 29 Tb on the database pool for the shadow tablespace..
    2) 22 Tb for the UNLOAD dataset.
    3) 22 Tb for the image copie. (must it be one dataset ?)
    4) Some workspace for building the indexes but we intent to use RECLUSTER NO so no data needs to be sorted.

ThIs is a real challenge for our DASD guy.
Does anybody see an opportunity to save some space any where.
    And thought is welcome

P.S. we don't have tape (or VTS) anymore.

    Hi!

Without VTS that is going to be tough! However there are the "new" ICLIMIT_TAPE and, for you, ICLIMIT_DASD REORG options in APAR PI75518 UI75979 this enables you to reduce the number of physical TP image copies dramatically, naturally your space requirement is the same...
