MIchael, Multi statement queries are supported in QMF 12.2. It may be that the Global Variable governing their use may be set to zero.
Please check the following:
1) Use the menu View>Preferences>Global Variables
2) Scroll down to the variable DSQEC_RUN_MC and check its value. It should be 1 to allow mutli statement queries or 0 to NOT allow them.
If this is not the issue please open a support ticket and specify the exact verision of QMF 12.2 from the menu Help>About QMF for Workstation.

I'm using QMF for Workstation 12.2 and getting errors running multi-statement queries that ran successfully in version 11.1 as regular queries which produced multiple result sets.
Is this because 12.2 no longer has just plain queries, only Visual or Analytic?
