Yes, you can choose one of the IBM FlashSystem models you mentioned and your Db2 pureScale configuration will be supported by IBM. Category 3 in the IBM documentation simply means that the storage device and multipath I/O driver combination has not been specifically validated with Db2 pureScale, but it is still supported. This means that you can use these storage devices with Db2 pureScale without any problems.
Here is a quote from the IBM documentation:
Category 3
All storage devices and multipath I/O driver combinations not identified as category 1 or category 2 fall into category 3. Category 3 combinations have not been validated with the Db2 pureScale Feature, though they are supported.
Support for category 3 combinations
IBM will continue to support category 3 combinations, but will not provide any additional validation or support for these combinations. If you are using a category 3 combination, you should monitor your environment closely and report any problems to IBM.
In other words, IBM has not specifically tested these storage devices with Db2 pureScale, but they have tested them with other IBM products and have found them to be reliable. So, you can be confident that they will work well with Db2 pureScale.
However, it is always a good idea to monitor your environment closely when you are using a new storage device with Db2 pureScale.
I hope this helps!

Subject: Db2 pureScale Linux Intel supported storage device
Hello Jan and Dale,
thanks a lot for the answer. I'have checked the link provided, but the storage we are evaluating to use is not in the list.
Our idea is to choose one of the following IBM FlashSystem models: FS5200, FS7300, FS9500. No one of them is listed in the IBM documentation, so as written in it we fall into Category 3 (All storage devices and multipath I/O driver combinations not identified as category 1 or category 2 fall into category 3. Category 3 combinations have not been validated with the Db2 pureScale Feature, though they are supported).
Based on the documentation (Category 3) can we choose one of the above model and our Db2 pureScale configuration will be supported by IBM ? Our concern is to choose a storage device that then puts us in the condition that our architecture is unsupported.
Thanks in advance.
Ciao. Roberto

Hello,
I'm evaluating Db2 pureScale solution in on-premise Linux Intel environment, where can I find an updated list of the most recent storage devices supported and validated with the Db2 pureScale feature ?
Thanks in advance.
Ciao, Roberto.
