is there a command - tool that could show the dbcfg settings that are not the default
so we can see what has changed

    1. Long way:

Browse Db2 Infocentre and note default values for database configuration. Compare with current values.

    2. Shorter way:

    a) save current database configuration in db2_current.cfg

    b) reset database configuration

    c) save new database configuration in db2_reset.cfg

    d) Diff both .cfg files

Best way I've found is to "db2 reset db cfg for sample" then use "select * from sysibmadm.dbcfg with ur;" to get the defaults.  Still needs work as there are parameters that are managed by the database that you need to eliminate

But keep in mind that when you create a new database - not all default settings are being applied - during creation of a new database some heuristic tuning takes place based on your current environment.

    Best approach is:

    • for a given environment (OS, hardware configuration etc):
      - create an empty database - called it an EMPTY.
      - Save DBM and DB configuration in files dbm_create.cfg and db_create.cfg
      - reset DB and DBM cfg
      - save them as dbm_reset.cfg and db_reset.cfg
    • Now you have some settings you can refer to
      - DBM.CFG for your environment
      - DB.CFG for your renvironment
      - DBM.CFG default configuration
      - DB.CFG default configuration
    • Remember that when restoring database you restore settings as stored in your backup
