Will it ever be possible to easily install CP4D on a Mac or PC?

    Hi Don.

Have you tried the CP4D as a Service offering? No "install" required as it is through your browser, so works with both Mac and PC.

Yes, l regularly use CP4DaaS. One significant challenge is the extremely low level of compute resources available on a free CP4DaaS account.
Having CP4D on your Mac or PC would allow you to take advantage of huge, unused desktop/laptop computing resources.

    Hi Don:

I have this same wish list.  However, the requirements for the cluster outweigh what a typical laptop or desktop would offer.  Internally, using something like VMWare and IPI installations of OpenShift can offer an alternate to play with CPD.  I do this, and it's very effective.  Just wanted to share.

What are the terms of the free CP4DaaS account?  Is it a limited time trial?  We have an on-prem install of CP4D and if I could play with CP4DaaS with a personal account and my own personal data I'd give it a try.

    Hi Steve.
I think you can find the answers to your pricing questions and access to a free trial at this link:

    https://www.ibm.com/products/cloud-pak-for-data

I will also share your interest with our CPDaaS design team. Is it ok if they reach out to you to get your "first impression" feedback of CPDaaS?

    Thanks!

I don't do free trials.  It sounded like there was a free level of account which didn't expire, and if such a thing exists for personal/development use I'd spend some time to give that a try.  I'd be using my personal not work account for this.

You can let the design team know of my interest.

I followed the link you just gave but while it says "Try it for free" there are no details of the terms of the trial available before you have to sign up so I abandoned the visit.

I see that... the pricing tab at the top is for the service, but doesn't mention the trial terms. I don't want to miss represent the details, so let me have someone get back to you with those details.

I will also share your thoughts with that design team ... maybe they can do something about that!

    Thanks again!

A different topic but for some reason this thread reminded me of it.  When I was installing Cloud Pak 4.0.1 on-prem and got to the part where I had to specify a "standard" or "enterprise" license I found the terms pretty silly - I mean who is installing an Openshift cluster and the minimum requirements for Cloud Pak that isn't an enterprise?  I know naming things like that is a challenge, but at that level the choices are pretty much "enterprise" and "bigger enterprise".
