Licensing IBM Passport Advantage Software for Managed Service Provider ....? How?

    Hi All,

I am now searching since weeks.

I found this website: IBM Eligible Public Cloud BYOSL-Richtlinie: The first part in English says:

Under this policy, IBM authorizes you to provide your Eligible IBM Software on an Eligible Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provided by IBM or a third party in accordance with the terms below. For clarification: This does not include projects with providers in which these providers access the software and / or execute or manage your IT environment completely or partially under the control of their own employees, be it at your location or at their location (e.g. Strategic Outsourcing, Web Hosting, Managed Service Provider etc.) - these situations require separate agreements and are not covered by this policy.

How can I license products like Tivoli Storage Manager f.e. for a Managed Service? I want to offer Managed Service for other companies. They are all related to our company. Most of them are minority holdings. So, the hardware and licenses shall be licensed by our company. Its our datacenter and this is also managed by us. The other companies are allowed to access the IBM software on this datacenter for using it.

I have no clue what I must do.

    I asked consultants.
    I asked three times IBM.
    I asked IBM partners.

No one is able to answer this question.
    Anyone has an idea?

By the way - we are not an IBM customer. But it seems to move to another software solution.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tom,

I do not work for IBM, I work for Tech Data who are an IBM Value Added Distributor in the UK, and we work directly with IBM Business Partners to help them to identify which is the correct IBM Relationship to use, depending on how they go to market.

Generally, with MSP type partners where the partner themselves purchases and retains ownership of the IBM Software entitlements, and then builds a solution that includes a combination of their own applications, IP or services and then provides the complete solution to their customers, this would be transacted through an Embedded Solution Agreement (ESA) :    Getting started with an Embedded Solution Agreement (ESA) | IBM PartnerWorld

I would strongly suggest that you locate an IBM VAD in your locale (let me know if you would like an intro to a Tech Data contact if we have a presence in your country) and they can explain how to get started with the ESA program and hand hold you through the process of building an ESA contract and transacting on this basis....or will advise if some other IBM Agreement is more suitable for your particular situatiuon.
    Hope that helps
    Regards
    Frank
