Sorry I couldn't be of more help. One final thought. You mentioned you develop Cognos dashboards - and that you are currently using the free trial of Cognos Analytics. One other avenue you might investigate is the embedded dashboard capability in Cloud Pak for Data. This is the same dashboard technology you find in Cognos Analytics, except that instead of using Cognos packages/data modules/uploaded files/data sets as your data sources, you use the data assets available within the Cloud Pak for Data project you are working in. It might make your life simpler if you can use this?

Yes Mark. I am an IBMer working in Cloud Platform. I would like to thank you for your valuable time and suggestions on this. Really appreciate it!

Hi,
Normally the admin of the Cloud Pak for Data cluster sets up the number of virtual processor cores, memory and storage for DB2 when provisioning the instance within the ICP4D cluster. It would be limited based only on what that specification will support, not any hard rule like 200Gb of data.
So are you an IBMer? If so, it might be worth reaching out to your internal teams to see what resources they have for you to use?

No I am not a Business partner. I am a senior data scientist working in IaaS cloud platform and I develop Cognos dashboards using peoples data that we source from different IBM systems like HRIW, GoM etc
I will check on any upgraded version of cloudpak.
Do you know what would be the size limit in DB2 within CP4D?

You seem to be running a restricted or trial version of Cloud Pak for Data - the options you are showing there are the DB2 Cloud options, not DB2 within Cloud Pak for Data (as far as I'm aware). I think you are out of luck here, unless you can get access to a full version of Cloud Pak for Data.
Are you an IBM business partner? I know at least one of the distributors has Cloud Pak for Data and Cognos Analytics instances for their partners to use for demos/POCs. If you are a partner, that might be an option for you here?

This what i see when I click on one of the listed DB2 instances (Attached screenshot).
So one more thing, I am assuming you are talking about DB2 free tier? If thats the case, the problem with free tier is that it can host only 200 MB of data. Our data is more than that..

Hi,
Mine definitely is Instances, not Service Instances.
I have version 4.6 - perhaps yours is a little older?
Regardless, it does look like there are DB2 instances running in your cluster. If you go back to the Hamburger menu and expand the Data twistie, then select Databases, do you see DB2 available?

I am assuming you meant service instances. If so, I am attaching the screenshot of what i see

Hi,
Weird! When you go into Services Catalog, you normally see twisties on the left for Category, Entitlement, Source and Status. When you open the Category twistie, you should see the different categories of services, including Data Sources:
It looks from your screenshot like you are using Skytap? Is this an instance of Cloud Pak for Data you have set up within Techzone? I'm wondering if it's a restricted instance somehow?
What do you see if you go to Instances in the Hamburger menu on the left? Do you have access to any capabilities there?

What do you see when you go into the Services Catalog (from the hamburger menu on the left), and choose the "Data Sources" category? Does the DB2 tile show "Available", "Enabled" or just blank at the bottom?

Hi,
I'm referring specifically to DB2 within Cloud Pak for Data. It is included as a base service within Cloud Pak for Data, so as long as you have enough VPCs to support a small instance, it shouldn't cost you anything?
Cheers!

So the problem with DB2 on cloud is that it comes with a cost and we have challenges around costing.

Hi,
I would look at a similar approach that uses a Data Refinery flow in Cloud Pak for Data to read from Box and write to an included database such as DB2 or Db2 Warehouse (both of these are included in the core capabilities of Cloud Pak for Data). Then set up a connection in Cognos Analytics to point to the DB2/Db2WH database you use.
Cheers!

The thing i am trying to achieve is very simple. My source files to Cognos analytics on Cloud trial sit in a box folder. Currently, there is no provision to connect Box to CA on cloud. So i found CP4D has a connection service which enables to connect to box and CA. So i thought why not I use a data refinery flow and map source to box and target to CA.
For the suggestion you gave to use URL of CA, I tried it but it did not work

Hi,
What are you trying to achieve? Do you want to use data assets from Cloud Pak for Data as data sources in Cognos Analytics, or are you trying to use data from Cognos Analytics as data assets in Cloud Pak for Data?
The dialog you posted looks like a connection pane in Cloud Pak for Data. Usually the connection would be to CA on-prem or the CA cartridge within Cloud Pak for Data. I'm not even sure you can point to the CA on Cloud Trial as a data source. If I was trying to set this connection up, I would try the URL for the CA on Cloud Trial in the Gateway URI field. I'm doubtful it will work, though.
If you just want to use the same data in Cloud Pak for Data as you are using in the CA on Cloud Trial, you could just add connections directly to the data sources CA on Cloud Trial is using?
Cheers!
MF.

I am trying to create a connection between cloud pak for data and IBM Cognos Analytics on Cloud Trial (internal) version. However, I need to give gateway uri of my cognos environment in connection properties. What would be the gateway URI for Cognos Analytics on Cloud Trial (internal) version
