  • 1.  PAW security - Lock consolidated members if empty

    Hi all!

I want to prevent the user from adding data to an empty consolidated member.

The consolidated member should only be open for input if there is some data at lover levels to direct the spreading.

In other words, I want to prevent the system from evenly spreading tiny fractional data to every leave node.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks, Asgeir

    Hello,

You could use cellsecurity based on rules > If the value is different from 0 and level > 0 then read. Does that answer your question?

    Best regards,

Thank you @DESCHARD Cécile, I am testing this approach.

My cube has nine dimensions, some with hundreds of members and a consolidated tree structure. Most dimensions are spares.

If I use this approach, I guess I will first set the write access to all levels and then read or write access to the consolidated members.

Is this an applicable approach in relation to performance?

    Thanks,

Sure it depends on your model.

    • If data entry on this dimension is only used for that purpose, you could also secure the dimension based on parameters
    • if the data at leaf level is imported or not changing too much, you could do it via process also

It is hard to answer not knowing the functionnal need but here are some ideas...

    Hi Asgeir

You can use the server configuration parameter ProportionalSpreadToZeroCells which is set in the tm1 config file.

Only minor drawback might be that this applies the whole model.

    Kind regards,

    Jesper

    Hi Asgeir,

You can acheive that by setting ProportionSpreadToZeroCells=F in the tm1s.cfg parameters.

That will prevent data spreading in zero consolidated cells.

    Best regards.

Assuming you do not want to use the TM1s.cfg parameter which applies to the entire model, you could also look at the security overlays

You can create a cut down cube with only the relevant dimensions needed to see if you should block or unblock a cell.

This also removes the necessity to change cell security or impact other areas.
