  • 1.  PAW Cube Viewer - Target Selecting Feature

    Hi,

    This is likely aimed at somebody from IBM to answer but in the latest PAW release (v2.0.86) I have noticed that when creating a new cube view object, that the "Target Selecting" feature that was usually present in the top left corner (see below) has now gone

    In some ways I am glad it's been removed and I recall from one of the recent AMA's that this function would be moved from the viewer and become an option somewhere else on screen but so far I can't seem to find it anywhere. I guess the strange thing is that now we have a situation in 2.0.86 where some existing views still have the feature and new views won't have it, which seems an odd way of implementing this change and will cause some confusion.

    Apologies if I have missed something in the release notes that mentioned this but I have been unable to find anything about this change so far. Has this option been removed or is this a feature in PAW 2.0.86?

    Hi George,

    Thanks for the link and handy to know it's going to be back in v87.

    I find it a bit strange that IBM would make a change in v86 to remove the feature from new views, only for you to then need v87 a month later to put it back. Also, I wonder what will happen to all pre-existing views with the Target Selecting feature in the top left corner. Will those update automatically and remove it for us or will we need to replace those with new views as some customers will now have a mixed bag of views with and without the feature.

    It didn't go away. I think there's a bug that makes some sort of auto-fit on the column header, reducing its size. If you increase manually the size of the column header, you'll see the button again. I think previously there was a padding somewhere preventing that button from being hidden. It must have been removed on the latest version

    Got it. I dragged the column header down in size and there it was, as you say, hidden rather than taken out. Interesting.
