I've found that there are some inconsistencies with where we can expect to find the cancel button in certain screens/widgets. For example if you look at the 'Show Attributes' button within the new experience set editor the cancel button is not located in the same place as within the set editor and is a different color than the button in the min set editor window. Also in some cases such as the mdx editor you have a 'x' available in the upper right hand corner of the widget to enable closing/cancelling the action.
I believe for consistent and better user experience these functions and features should all be applied the same i.e. color and placement so that no matter what widget you are in you can expect the same functionality.
I spoke with Stuart King on this and he agreed.

Both are intentional:
1. The full screen size of set editor is allowed to deal with the large sets.
2. Cancel button on the left side is according to the Carbon design; interacting with the set editor a couple of times allows to be familiar with the buttons location.

There are a couple of issues with the 'new experience' set editor in PAW.
1. The host window can't be resized or moved and by default it takes up all of your screen estate.
2. The Cancel button is located bottom left, too far from the other buttons.
My question is whether IBM will address these.
