Planning Analytics

Hello community,

Our business users are asking to be able to attach a document to a cell.

We know, it's not natively doable but we're thinking if we could use the cell level comments in order to store a http link to a document.

Anyone has some experience in this area ?

A couple of concepts 

1) associate a document to a data cell value. For which you would need to use cell annotations - the problem being that cell annotations are not supported in all of the reporting options in PAfE and less supported in Websheets (Refer the PA roadmap for the filling of some of the gaps) 

2) have a way of setting up a link to a document where you could put in a reference to a document in a string measure cell 

As for setting up automatic recognition to open a document I'll let others make suggestions.

There is something on the roadmap for next year about setting up hyperlinks in cube views. What that may offer is not clear from the description.

Websheets do support the HYPERLINK function from Excel.  This will allow you to build web based interfaces that allow a user to access a document file.  I can confirm the Planning Analytics roadmap does include support for hyperlinks in the Workspace cube viewer as well. 

I think the biggest challenge here is where to actually store the files and creating a mechanism for users to upload the file and update a cell in a TM1 cube to link to the upload.

@STUART KING, how about adding support for markdown in comments and even a simple editor? That would allow users to add links

Markdown for string cells and comments is on the roadmap.  This would include support for hyperlinks in the cube viewer and single cell widget.
