  • 1.  Framework Manager and Transformer opens really slow

    Hi.

We have installed Framework Manager (and Transformer) on a virtualized (VM-ware) Windows Server 2016.
We have tried different versions of FM and TF, all the same problem.

For some reason the applications opens really really slow, about 20 minutes

Framework Manager will take approximately 25-27% CPU and will be loading like that for 20 minutes before being ready.
    Transformer behaves the same way.

    Antivirus has been disabled.

We believe this can be an issue with the 32-bit applications as opening the Cognos Cube Designer (64-bit) works just fine.
We tried testing installing another 32-bit application like Notepad++ - it opens instantly, so we are wondering what the issue could be with the IBM Cognos Analytics applications....

    it´s version  CA 11.2.2

Any idea on how to troubleshoot this?

    Hi,

I just wonder if the application itself is opening slow or is it slow when you try to open a specific model?

Could you please give some more details?
    Regards

    Dear Mikael,

It is really hard to identify the problem with the inputs but anyway I can give some small advices:

    1. You can try to change the configuration parameter: "Dispatcher URI for External Applications"
    from:
    http://<Servername>:9300/bi/v1/disp
    to:
    http://<Servername>:9300/p2pd/servlet/dispatch

    2. You can check whether encryption is done properly (you may delete old "csk" and "cert" files and recreate them. But i am not sure about this, because you might be receiving error messages, maybe it is a good idea to check log files.)

    3. You may install FM to a different machine and test if it is still slow.

Another option if you mind, you can send me a zoom or teams meeting, and we can have a look together.

    Cheers
    Sukru

    Hi Sukru,

    Thanks for the reply,

    For your fist post
    - yes it the application itself that´s opens slow

    For the second post:
    1. for now the configuration have just been default in those parameters
    2. save the Cognos Configuration and the encryptions is all good.
    3. we have tried installed the FM on other servers also also new deployed servers, same problem

Thank you for your kind offer regarding online meeting, I'm just waiting for IBM support to see if they come up with anything, I will reach more out then.
Wanted to see if there was anyone here in the community with similar experiences

I suspect that it may be a hardware problem as the customer has got new servers on which they deviate their environments. but everything else runs perfectly. Any known problems with this HW setup?

    HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen10 Plus
    AMD EPYC 74F3 24-Core Processor
    1024GB RAM
    Mellanox MCX512F-ACHT SFP28 netkort
    NVME Harddrives.

VMware 7.0.3, mode: vSAN (maybe this is the problem if only supporting 6.0 - 6.1

    Hi Michael,

With Cognos Analytics v11.2.2, supported VMware hypervisors are VMware ESXi 6.0 and VMware ESXi 6.1.

You can check from the following URL:
Detailed system requirements for a specific product

    Hi Mikael,

Did you run Cognos Configuration successfully for both applications?

    Best regards,

    Hi Pactrick,

    Thanks for replying.

Yes all went well. as you can see in other post, we have installed on other servers also. updated and restarted the servers, uninstalled Anti Virus and so.
So maybe it´s the Hardware or the VMWare.

But hard to find information on this.

    Hi.

    Mikaels colleague here ;)

Mikael and I found this https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6513234

We suspect this is the root cause, and have now reached out to IBM Support to have them clarify what they mean by "Update the processor"...
