Has anyone found a technique for having default filters in a data module.

For example, I have a currency table that by default I would like to default to be filtered to GBP.

When a user creates a report or dashboard then that table should be filtered to GBP. But they also have the capability to change the filter to a different currency. If we create a filter on the table in DM then whilst it would be filtered to GBP, it would not be possible to change it to another currency.

In OLAP there is the concept of the default member which is really useful. It gives the user a good default state, but they can also change it. I am looking for something similar.

Hi, You can define a filter with a prompt macro in the data module to achieve this (in my example a filter on the cancellation flag). In reports you can drag & drop the filter and define a report prompt for the parameter as/if needed. In dashboards you can drag & drop it as well and choose the value with the visualization filters.

Thanks Philipp. Creating a filter means the user has to remember to apply it. And not all users read the manuals.
Within OLAP a default member is applied even when the user does nothing.

I think every customer who uses an enterprise data warehouse could benefit from this functionality - especially with AI taking off.
Some way of applying a default set of filters, which the user can change.

I know i could do this within the dashboard and report, but what is needed is a solution at the data module level.

Would global parameters be an option?
