Hi,
We've set up Active Directory (AD) as our source of identities for Cognos. When viewed from the administration console, under Security Tab, The AD is under the namespace Directory > AD, while the Cognos Groups/Roles are under the namespace Directory > Cognos.
We're looking for a way to add a user in AD to a Cognos Group. The REST API to add a user to a group requires the user's User ID, which a new user recently added to the AD may not have.
We've also observed that if the user in the AD accesses the Cognos home URL at least once, we see a User ID created for this user in Cognos, when we do a /users
API call for this user (Using the user's CAMID). For a new user who exists in AD, but has never accessed Cognos at least once, the /users
call does not return this user. (404)
What is the best way to go about this requirement, where we need to add new user additions to our AD, to one of our groups in Cognos? We want to avoid making the users login at least once for our functionality to work. Can we do it in a different way?
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
