Analytics Viewer Capabilities

Does anybody know how to allow an Analytics Viewer to view dashboards but not have the capability to change filters within a visualisation?  Obviously it is a permissions issue but I can't find the specific aspect to change

    Hi Matthew,

What have you tried? I can't test this at the moment, but I'm assuming you need to grant just Execute permission for the user (or role) to the Dashboards capability under Manage > People > Capabilities (so choose the Custom option from the Permissions dropdown and check just the Grant privilege for Execute).

    Cheers!

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for responding and great to hear from you.

The issue is that if I give Execute so that a user can view the dashboard, that user can allow interact with any filters on a visualisation on that dashboard.  Ideally I want a user to be able to view a dashboard but not interact with any filters/

    Any thoughts appreciated !

    Hi Matthew,

have you tried to use this extension here? It allows you to hide the filter icon of each widget to prevent users from deleting them.
    https://community.ibm.com/accelerators/catalog/content/Hide-widget-filter-icon-on-dashboards-(11.1.5-and-above)

I'm not aware about any capability or individual user-role configuration to prevent users from creating filters by selecting data in a viz.

    Hi Robert,

Thanks for highlighting the extension; it certainly looks as though it could be useful.  I did have a quick look at the accelerator catalog but didn't see this specific one.

    Regards

    Matthew

Someone asked me to add this!

    Check it out:

The control will go through and remove the minus button and remove the onclick event on the filters row, and only the filters row. This lets users easily remove filters from clicking on items:

It's actually part of the free side of CogBox. https://pmsquare.com/cogbox

Just a thought....why not create the Dashboard using Reporting? That way they will view in HTML with no ability to modify filters.

    Hi Stephune,

Thanks for your suggestion which is perfectly valid - client was keen to show a dashboard view as he is trying to encourage users to think about self-service and how easily analysis can be put together.  However for initial dashboard, he wants just a view of a dashboard to be presented
