MaaS360 Architect Badge

On June 28th, 2019, IBM released a MaaS360 Architect knowledge badge on the IBM Security Learning Academy. The badge confirms your knowledge of MaaS360 and its architecture. After you complete the prerequisite training, and successfully pass the MaaS360 Architect badge quiz with an 80% or higher, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to implement MaaS360 throughout your organization.  

These skills include: 

  • Understanding how MaaS360 supports devices, applications, and content  
  • Learning strategies and planning activities that support a smooth deployment of MaaS360 
  • Learn how to integrate mobile devices with both enterprise and cloud resources 


To earn the MaaS360 Architect Badge, you must complete the MaaS360 Planning and Architecture courses (times are an approximation): 
  1. MaaS360 Overview - 60 minutes
  2. Enterprise Integration - 30 minutes
  3. Planning and Implementation - 30 minutes
  4. Deployment Strategies - 30 minutes
  5. MaaS360 Planning and Architecture Lab - 60 minutes 

MaaS360 Overview 

In the training for IBM MaaS360 with Watson, you learn about the SaaS features, functionalities, and capabilities that MaaS360 has to offer. The objectives are:  

  • Describe MaaS360 editions 
  • Describe MaaS360 SaaS and container architectures 
  • Describe MaaS360 integration capabilities

Enterprise Integration 

In this training course, you'll understand how MaaS360 Cloud Extender interacts with resources behind the firewall. The objectives are: 

  • Explain MaaS360 key components used to integrate mobile devices with enterprise and cloud resources 
  • Describe examples of real-time and discovery modules in the MaaS360 Cloud Extender framework 
  • Identify basic installation requirements for the MaaS360 Cloud Extender and Mobile Enterprise Gateway 

Planning and Implementation 

In this course, you learn the basic ideas and concepts to implement MaaS360 successfully within your organization. The objectives are: 

  • Discuss the basic concepts and tasks necessary to plan for a MaaS360 implementation 
  • Locate and navigate MaaS360 documentation and learning resources 

Deployment Strategies 

In this course, you will be introduced to a variety of strategic activities and plans that assist you in deploying MaaS360 smoothly. The objectives are: 

  • Describe the capabilities of MaaS360 account types 
  • Review authentication modes for users and administrators 
  • Explore options for device enrollment simplification  
  • Describe corporate device management options 
  • Plan user communication considerations 
  • Review options for corporate mail protection 
  • Review options for intranet resource access 
  • Review options for single sign-on for apps and resources 
  • Describe out of compliance enforcement and remediation

MaaS360 Planning and Architecture Lab 

In the Planning and Architecture Lab, you will learn about MaaS360 SaaS features and integration capabilities. You will also get an overview of container architectures. 

The objectives are:  

  • Enroll a device in MaaS360 
  • Use the MaaS360 portal to review device information and take action on a mobile device 
  • Create a device group 
  • Create a custom alert 
  • Upload and distribute a document to a mobile device 
  • Upload and distribute an app to a mobile device 
  • Create and assign a compliance rule set 
  • Create and apply a policy 
  • Install a distributed app 
  • Download a distributed document 
  • Remove a device from the MaaS360 portal

The badge requires completion of the above 5 courses, along with passing a 35 question quiz with at least an 80%  (answering 28 correctly). There is no time limit for each attempt and the quiz can be taken up to 10 times. The second attempt can be taken right after the first but following attempts will spaced out by one day.

Overall, this badge will give you a robust understanding of the features and functionalities of MaaS360. Along with giving you a guideline on how to deploy and implement MaaS360 within your organization in a strategic and efficient manner.
