IBM TechXchange Conference 2023: Day 1 Recap

By Sarah-Jane Cogley posted Tue September 12, 2023 06:40 PM

The IBM TechXchange Conference 2023 commenced with a vibrant Community Day Kick Off, serving as the official opening ceremony. This event provided an excellent platform for members of the IBM TechXchange Community and distinguished IBM Champions to convene, exchange insights, and foster valuable connections. Speakers including @JASON GARTNER, @Amy Tennison, @Marius Ciortea, @Sarah-Jane Cogley, and @Libby Ingrassia delivered enlightening and motivating talks.

Jason Gartner, General Manager, set the tone for the day by highlighting the profound importance of this inaugural TechXchange conference. He emphasized its role in promoting the exchange of ideas across a wide spectrum of technologies, uniting technologists from diverse backgrounds and industries. The conference aimed to cultivate a culture of continuous learning, featuring a remarkable 30% of sessions led by customers and partners. Jason underscored that the community itself stood as the conference's greatest asset, facilitating networking and connections among like-minded individuals.

Amy Tennison, Vice President of TechXchange, delved into the significance of the TechXchange program, which focuses on informing, engaging, and nurturing user communities. Amy emphasised the unique value of face-to-face interactions and networking opportunities with peers.

Marius Ciortea, IBM TechXchange Community Steward, articulated how communities are about individuals that come together to create something greater than themselves. A community provides a sense of belonging and is where we find people who share our interests and understand us. A thriving community becomes a support system in times of need and a place where we can learn from each other. Communities grow together and thrive when their members actively participate and contribute.

@Jean-Georges Perrin, President of AIDA User Group, @John Mertic, Executive Director of the Open Mainframe Project and @Vio Onut, CASCON Content Chair, also introduced their respective groups and associations.

@Libby Ingrassia, Chief IBM Champion Wrangler, celebrated and acknowledged the champions who graced the conference with their presence. She also showcased the specially designed blue jackets created for these champions.

As the Head of IBM TechXchange Community, I introduced the attendees to their Community Leaders, who act as the bridge into the heart of the community. I explained how our team can help to empower our community members, by fostering collaboration in content creation, and igniting discussions on the technologies and solutions that inspire their passion.

It was truly an amazing day and be sure to keep an eye out for additional content throughout the week!
