File Transfer

Firewall Rules: Port 21 and range 4460-4500 outgoing to each of your environments listed in the Welcome kit.

i.e. <non-prod>.planning-analytics.ibmcloud.com

FTPeS is a secure means of transferring files between Planning Analytics on Cloud and your own environments (usually on premise).
The files could be for a variety of purposes such as data files for dimensions and cubes through to a moving the Planning Analytics database files from one environment to another (commonly used when migrating from PA Local to the cloud).
Note,  for end users regularly transferring files this can be done via the PA Workspace directly.

An FTP client that support
FTPeS is required to move files.  Often, where file movements are regular and need to be scheduled, the client is a command line tool.  For users working in the development of a Planning Analytics application it is recommended that you use a GUI based client to make transferring files easier.  Common examples of GUI based clients used and allowed in organisations include WinSCP and Filezilla.

The details for the host name and credentials are found in the welcome kit.
An Example of the configuration using
filezilla is depicted here.

Please note,  the host is your regions
url for FTPS and SFTP,  this can be found in your welcome kit.

As an example the host for Europe is: ft-EU.planning-analytics.cloud.ibm.com
Also, the encryption type must be FTP explicit (in the case of
filezilla “require explicit FTP over TLS”).

Once configured you
are able to see an “install” Directory (for optional clients)
You will also see a “prod” folder that contains a directory for each configured database.
Under the database there are the logs and data folders (data for database files).

Filezilla folder view:

You have the option of requesting additional ftp logins and to create an Access Control List (ACL).
See “controlling access to shared folders):
https://ibm.biz/CS_PAoC_AccessToServicesAndSharedFolders

This gives the option of securing the access for different user groups
ie, HR user for the HR database and files and Finance user for the Finance database and files.  Extra folders can can also be created such as an “Upload” folder so that the database files can be kept separate.
