IBM® technology provides a premier infrastructure for clients who have deployed SAP® solutions to drive better business outcomes. SAP on Z has the most robust, highly available hardware with near zero downtime, advanced virtualization, systems management.
The SAP on IBM Z Performance Team, located in Poughkeepsie, NY, conducted a comparison effort with the purpose of showing that both SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) are good options for SAP application servers running on large IBM Z co-located environments. This was demonstrated by using both SAP Banking Account Settlements which is a batch processing workload, and SAP banking Day Posting which is an online transaction processing (OLTP) or interactive workload. With 100 million SAP Banking accounts in a Db2 on Z database running on IBM z15, the size of the environment was comparable to some of the largest banks in the world.
A White Paper with details behind this effort is titled, “SAP on IBM Z Performance - Linux Application Server Comparison on z15 - RHEL versus SLES” and can be found at the following link https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6412077
