IBM Service Management Unite 1.1.1.11 release enhancements

By Nan Nan Li posted Fri June 14, 2024 05:58 AM

We are excited to announce the latest release of IBM Service Management Unite (SMU), version 1.1.11.1, which brings several enhancements designed to streamline your operations and improve efficiency. Here are some of the key features and improvements:

Enhanced LPAR configuration management

Starting with version 1.1.11.1, SMU introduces a new LPAR configuration dashboard. This intuitive dashboard provides a comprehensive list of LPARs along with their current configurations. You can now easily adjust the defined capacity and initial weight of any LPAR, offering greater control and flexibility in managing their mainframe resources. SMU leverages IBM Z System Automation’s ProcOps functionality to provide this kind of hardware management functionality.

Support for creating System Automation policy database reports

In this release, we have added the ability to create new System Automation (SA) policy reports directly from the SMU interface. Using the Manage Z System Automation Policies dashboard, you can generate detailed policy reports, which can then be viewed in the Policy Report Viewer within SMU. To utilize this feature, ensure that the policy database is properly configured. For configuration details, please see the documentation on specifying the automation policy database information.

Additional enhancements

  • SFTP support for SA policy reports: You can now download SA policy reports from the host system via SFTP, enhancing the process of accessing and sharing important data.

  • Updated software prerequisites: The primary prerequisite software for SMU container images has been updated. JazzSM is now at Fix Pack 21 iFix1, and WAS has been updated to Fix Pack 25.

  • Improved SDF dashboard: The SMU System Display Facility (SDF) dashboard has been enhanced to display all messages before applying Domain/System filters, ensuring that users have a complete view of system messages.

  • Log4j upgrade: The log4j library for Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) in the SMU Enterprise container has been upgraded, enhancing security and performance.

  • ZWS dashboard login improvement: The ZWS dashboard login dialog has been improved to prompt users if they have not logged into the selected engine, streamlining the user experience.

  • Retry logic for UAA commands: A retry logic has been added for commands issued by the Universal Automation Adapter (UAA), improving reliability and error handling during command execution.

These enhancements are designed to provide greater control, improved usability, and enhanced performance for you. For more detailed information on this release, please visit IBM SMU documentation.
