Let's hear it for MQ Channels!

Perhaps I'm biased because it was the first area of IBM MQ (MQSeries as it was then) that I worked on as a new graduate joining Hursley back in 1996, but I don't think MQ channels get enough love.

I was therefore very pleased to hear Kim Clark say the following about them on the recent "What's New in IBM MQ V9.4.2" Webinar (you can watch the replay here).

A lot of customers do use MQ more than just as an individual queue manager but set up a network of queue managers. I always think this is kind of the the secret sauce of MQ. It's ability to create these robust channels between queue managers. Those queue managers can live at significant distances from one another, from a geographical or network perspective and even have different security models wrapped around them, but still be able to pass messages across that network. And handling whatever sort of changes to the network happen and so on, protecting the applications from the complexities from a security and latency point of view of how that network works. And that's become increasingly relevant as we move towards cloud architecture.
